UPDATED!! Learn Who Returns For The Final Thursday SNL!!
UPDATED 8:35 P.M. ET!! We just got word that Will Ferrell reprises George Walker Bush tonight in anticipation of the upcoming Bush-centric Broadway show he's putting together with former SNL head writer (and "Anchorman" director) Adam McKay!
With no debate to recap, will tonight’s final live Thursday SNL be pure Weekend Update?
“More. Definitely more,” according to one source close to the show. “Sorry, I can't say more aside from the fact that there will be special guests... Not the one the rumor mill is speculating on (Obama).”
Scheduling 11 SNL-branded dayparts between Sept. 13 and Nov. 3 (election eve) has turned out to be the arguably the smartest move Ben Silverman has made during his troubled 18-month stint as co-chair of NBC Entertainment.
The Sarh Palin-free/Tina Fey-free Thursday edition of SNL has emerged as the network’s highest-rated scripted series of the season (bested only by Sunday Night Football). Saturday’s installment, featuring Palin herself (as well as Tina Fey, Alec Baldwin and Mark Wahlberg), scored higher ratings than any other show on NBC last week. It was also the second-highest-rated scripted show on any channel last week, after the season premiere of “CSI.”
If you missed it:
Three more 90-minute editions of SNL are scheduled between tonight and election day. Jon Hamm hosts Oct. 25, Ben Affleck is rumored to host Nov. 1, and “The Saturday Night Live Presidential Bash 2008” airs Monday, Nov. 3, at 9:30 p.m.
SNL’s Amy Poehler gets her own Thursday sitcom, overseen by “The Office” writer-producers Greg Daniels and Mike Schur, early next year.
If you’re not getting enough Tina Fey, NBC.com is offering the entire season premiere of “30 Rock” a week early, starting at noon PT today.
